We encourage students to e-mail the instructor with questions regarding the On-Line course at instructors@cookeschool.com.  With an e-mail to the instructor, the student will have a written document of the response. 

For questions by e-mail, there is a 24 Hour response time Monday through Friday, E-mails over Saturday, Sunday or a legal holiday will be returned the first business day.

Computer Capability:  Minimum system requirements:

  • 56K modem (40 kbs)

  • Pentium II, 233 MHz
  • Sufficient memory to run your system software and browser
  • Windows 2000, XP, Me, NT, 98, 95
  • Supported Browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x, 6.x.
  • AOL, Earthlink & Compuserve dial-up users should minimize their connection window and launch Microsoft Internet Explorer from the Start button in order to use the standard, supported Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.

  • Macintosh users will want to use Internet Explorer for MAC OSX or Apple's Safari browser as their browser in viewing the online course.

How does this on-line 16 hour course work?

  1. The course is divided into the Mandatory eight (8) hours and the Elective eight (8) hour programs.
    • The Mandatory 8 Hours are divided into
      • 3 Hours - Ethics Course
      • 3 Hours - Agency, Contracts, Legal Updates & Emerging Trends
      • 2 Hours - Fair Housing
    • The Elective 8 Hours are divided into:
      • 4 Hours -  Finance
      • 2.5 Hours - Environmental Issues
      • 1.5 Hours - Red Flags ( an introduction to property inspection)
  2. This course is composed of 38 units.  Each unit has four sections: Reading Assignment, Interactive Exercises, Reading Comprehensive Quiz and a Unit Exam.
  3. Each unit has a Reading Assignment.  The course is designed with learning objectives so as the student goes through the unit, the student knows what the objectives are.
  4. Every Reading Comprehension Quiz needs to completed as does each Unit Exams. The student needs to obtain 100% on the Reading Comprehensive quizzes and a minimum of 75% on the Unit Exams. This is the most important part of this course, because as the student works through these modules it demonstrates mastery of the course.
  5. A student can move on to the next unit without passing the previous one but they won't be able take the final exam until everything is complete and passed.
  6. The end-of-course exam is composed of 110 multiple choice and true and false questions.  The student needs to score a 75% on the end-of-course exam. 
  7. The student needs to mail back notarized and signed student affidavit to the school, before any completion certificate can be mailed.  Here is the "Student Affidavit" .     Here is the link for the address information . for the Affidavit to be mailed. 
  8. Once the school receives the signed Notarized Affidavit, the school will notify the Virginia Board of Real Estate and mail the student a completion certificate.  Please allow three to four business days for processing.  

Information the student needs to know before taking this course.

  1. Once the student purchases this course, the student CANNOT get a refund.
  2. Once the student purchases the course, the student has ONE year to complete the program.
  3. This On-Line course does not require additional textbook support and NO additional course material is needed. Students can purchase additional study material at the Cooke Bookstore or by calling the school at 800/943-9993.
  4. The only portion of the course that is timed is the end of course exam. The student has three hours to complete the exam. Students must complete the exam in one session.  Student will not be allowed to complete the final exam in segments. A passing grade of 75% is necessary for passing the course.
  5. This course is totally web based.  The course is not downloadable.  The student can work through the course at the student's convenience.
  6. This course is NOT designed to be printed for security purposes and copy right regulations. 
  7. At the time of registration for the On-Line Distance Learning Course, the student will receive an e-mail from Dearborn's RECampus, verifying the student's registration. 
  8. Upon completing the course, RECampus posts for Cooke Real Estate School a daily report of student's final grade report.  The staff at Cooke reviews this report daily, Monday through Thursday.  Just in case, the school recommends e-mailing the instructor of the student's successful completing the course. 
  9. Once the school, receives the Affidavit, the school mails the completion certificates to those students who have successfully received a grade of 75% or better on the final exam. Allow three to four business days to receive this completion certificate. 
  10. The school student records are kept for five years from the date of the completion of the course.  Student records include the student's name, the address,license number, social security number,date of enrollment, course title, records of completion of the various unit/chapter quizzes, time spend on each  unit, copies of course material including timeline and objectives, plus copies of course material (homework) that are turned in a final examination records are all kept at the school.
